Focusing on your macro and micro goals.

This is where you ask yourself what you want participants to be able to do at the end of your program. Understanding your core goals is one of the first things I do when I work with my done-for-you clients. I figure out the purpose of the course and what we’re setting out to do. 

Next, we have to think about micro-goals. Once you're able to understand your own program at a highly detailed level, there are a few things to consider… 

  1. What kind of learning needs to take place for people to achieve those goals? 
  2. What is their competency when purchasing the course? 
  3. Where are they trying to go? 

Your job as the course creator is to fill that gap between where they’re starting and where they're going.

 

A course is not just about giving knowledge. 

This is what most people do...they're great at sharing information but they're not bridging that gap. When it comes to setting our clients up for success and helping them implement, here are some things that you can do: 

  • Relate information to them and know them like you know your best friend. 
  • If you are not an expert, provide different resources to other information.
  • Show them how to take action and how they can immediately use what they just learned. 
  • Think about the tools you can give them to implement the information immediately. 
  • Provide strategies for long-term implementation to allow them to stay on top. 

 

 

Your goal is to make people better than you left them.

What you can do to help people continue certain behaviors is utilize your coaching as a form of accountability. Provide them with support and give personalized implementation so that you can create learning that really sticks. 

When it comes to your courses, you should make the experience easy to follow and visually pleasing. It should be consistent with ZERO distractions. 

You can also share the knowledge in multiple ways for different types of learning. One of the best ways to make learning stick is to make sure everyone's engaged! Figure out where people are getting stuck and create a solution for that problem.
