Doing Things My Way: What’s Next For Dreampro

Jul 25, 2022

I’ve got some news for you today, Dreamers: some good, some sad, and some exciting.
Let’s start with the potentially sad news. When something is working well for your business, there can be a lot of pressure to continue with it, even if you’re totally burnt out on it. Doing things my way and not the common way still feels a little risky sometimes, but this is part of learning to trust your instincts as a business owner. Staying true to myself and the goals of my business means recommitting to doing things my way, even if I worry about disappointing others.

With that said, here’s the news, Dreamers: I’m going to be taking a break from my podcast for a little while. I know many of you are regular listeners (or readers, if you prefer the blog!), and I didn’t want to leave you guys hanging, so…there it is.

There are a lot of reasons that I came to this decision, and I’m sure there are plenty of questions you all have! There are a few things on my heart this week that I really want to share. So let me clarify a few things for you, starting with…

Are you ever coming back?

Yes! I fully intend to come back to my podcast someday. I’ve had this podcast since early 2021, and it has been so much fun. Even though I’m taking a pause for a while to give myself room to keep doing things my way, I truly love podcasting. It’s something that I’ve put a lot of work into, and it’s given me a lot of value in return. Having it for the past year and a half has been incredible, but I’ve recently come to a realization: I’m starting to run out of steam. It’s become something that’s easy to maintain (which isn’t necessarily something to complain about!), but when things get too easy, I start to get bored and uninspired. I need the freedom to keep doing things my way, which means giving myself room to say goodbye for now to things that don’t inspire my passion.

Why are you taking a pause?

As I said, I’m starting to feel bored. And with boredom comes an itch for something new. I’m the kind of person that needs a project to play with, something that challenges and stimulates me, and while I have had so much fun recording this podcast, it’s just not fulfilling that need for a challenge. What it is doing is taking up the time that I could be using to recommit to doing things my way, to chase after something shiny and new that will pull me out of the funk I’ve fallen into. So I’ve decided to take a step back in order to give myself room to pursue other projects and consider what I want to do with this podcast in the future. Taking a step back will allow me to rest, recharge my creative battery, and jump back in with twice as much creativity and energy as I have right now.

So when will you be starting again?

It won’t be too long! Though I don’t have an exact date and I don’t want to lock myself in until I have a better idea of what my new projects are going to look like, I’m thinking I’ll “relaunch” the podcast a few months from now, closer to the end of 2022. I’m giving myself the room to try doing things my way in a new way, and I’m not sure how long it will be before I’m ready to jump back in. Still, it won’t be forever!

What are these new projects?

I have three new projects I’m working on that I’m so excited about!

1. Dreampro Digital Educator Academy

You might have already spotted our new account for this on Instagram, but consider this its official intro! This is our education platform for educators. I’m really thrilled to be able to offer something like this because while we obviously have the Course Alchemist, when it comes to being an educator, it goes so far beyond simply building a course. Something I’ve learned from doing things my way is that education isn’t a one-and-done deal, but I can find a way to make it easier. Therefore, the educator academy is meant to be a one-stop shop for people who teach anything in their business (people who have courses, workshops, guest training, etc.). If you do any kind of instruction in your business, you’re going to be able to benefit from this academy. The Dreampro Digital Educator Academy will be launching this September, and I’m so thrilled to finally be able to share this labor of love with all of you! I’m looking forward to being able to teach on things I haven’t had the chance to cover before, such as developing training programs for employees and team members, engagement in the workplace, etc. These are the kind of things I love to talk about, so it’s a huge boost to my commitment to doing things my way.

2. Top-Secret Collaboration feat. Crypto for Business Owners

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (which, after 2020, who could blame you?), you’ve probably heard of cryptocurrency and the NFT debate. For the past few months, part of doing things my way has meant collaborating with three incredible entrepreneurs to develop a project to help business owners as it relates to education in the NFT/crypto world! Since last year, I’ve been doing my best to learn a lot about crypto and how it relates to business. There have been a lot of “aha!” moments that I’ve had in terms of the future of crypto, NFTs, and how they’ll end up influencing the online business industry. The people I’m collaborating with and I have been coming up with a really epic “experience,” let’s say, that’s become a total passion project for me. It’s been so fun to reinvest in doing things my way and put the time and effort into this project that I can’t wait to share.

3. Secret Software for Course Creators

I’m not going to say too much about this one, but suffice it to say, it’s something that no one else is doing yet. Even so, it’s definitely, definitely needed. Part of doing things my way means striking out into new territory, so even though this is all fresh for me, I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I’m developing a software product with someone who approached me, an owner of a financial company whose interests overlap with mine. We both want to do something impactful, and when I shared my idea for the software, he was all in and immediately agreed to collaborate with me! (Which is good, because I know nothing about software development. I am, however, really good at ideas, and understanding how people learn and interact, and through me doing things my way and him doing things his way, we’ve managed to conceive a plan for something really cool!)
This product ultimately is meant to serve course creators by helping them instill trust in their potential buyers and improve their course marketing, among other things; for consumers, it’s going to help them feel really good about the courses that they’re buying. I’m going to leave it at that for now, but just know it’s going to be truly awesome.

Doing things my way and coming back stronger…

Moving into a new season, both in life and in business, is always daunting. I’ve stepped into a new season in life, and while it hasn’t been easy, I’m looking forward to doing the same with Dreampro. More than anything, I want to continue doing things my way, even if it’s not the most common business decision, and I want to continue to invest my energy and time into things that truly inspire me. Still, this isn’t goodbye, Dreamers—this is just a “See you later!”
