Today we will dive into the most common types of offers and my biggest tips for you. For all the details, be sure to listen to the ENTIRE episode on your favorite streaming platform!

The first common type of offer.

COURSES. You guys know that as a course designer, I had to talk about courses first! While I have SO many tips about courses, the one that kept coming to my mind was to focus on solving a single problem. So many times I see people trying to pack all of their knowledge and expertise into one course, but this makes it very confusing for their clients. More often than not, this leads to some kind of failure of the program, either in the selling (because no one knows what the heck they’re buying) or during the course because people are overwhelmed and confused. So be super clear about what specific transformation you want people to get from taking this course, and just focus on that!

The second common type of offer and the mistake SO many entrepreneurs make with it.

The second common type of offer is memberships! Memberships can be a fantastic business opportunity, but so many times I see people open them up and then shut them down pretty quickly after. They have big plans for their membership, but it’s hard to apply because it’s for the long haul. So my biggest tip for this is to have a success path for your clients in the membership. Know when and how they’re coming in, the intent of the membership, the transformation they’ll get, and how they’ll leave. Remember people don’t want to just pay for something every month. They want the transformation.

The third common type of offer and what to know going into it.

The third common type of offer is intensives. When it comes to intensives, the biggest mistake I see people make is to make it all about them. They market time with them like it’s a really special thing. But to be honest with you, if you’re not a celebrity, people don’t want to pay just to get your ear. They want what the time with you will give them. So my biggest tip is to market the before and after of the intensive. Know what your clients will come in with and walk away with. Be crystal clear on exactly what happens during that time with you.

The fourth common type of offer and my top tips.

The fourth common type of offer is group programs. I see group programs run in very different ways, and I love that! There’s no right or wrong as long as it’s done with intentionality. So my biggest tip is to plan your content and curriculum around what’s best for your clients, not just the cadence you want them to follow. Think about what’s best for them, and plan it all around that.

The fifth common type of offer and the biggest disappointment that I see on it.

Freebies and tripwires! I see so many lackluster lead magnets that don’t benefit anybody. And it’s super disappointing! When a potential client clicks on your freebie, and they’re disappointed by it, you KNOW they’re not going to want to actually buy from you. So put some effort behind these and make them helpful! If I see one more Canva mess of journal prompts that lead to nothing, I’m going to lose my shit. Make sure you actually solve a small problem with these.

A bonus tip I have is don’t just make these types of offers for the sake of making them. How does this freebie lead them into your main offer? Have a clear pathway laid out.

The sixth common type of offer - done for you services.

My biggest tip with this type of offer is to focus on service and communication, and always get feedback to improve your processes. This type of service is sacred. They are giving you a huge amount of trust, so make sure you take care of them and create an elevated experience! Cater to the person you are helping through this process. Communication is the most free and valuable thing you can give!

A bonus tip I have is to keep a “back pocket bonus.” This has always gone really well for me! It’s a surprise bonus I don’t typically disclose in my deliverables. But it’s like a cherry on top I do for their courses. I highly recommend finding something like this for your clients. It’s the little details that make the biggest difference.

The seventh common type of offer and the purpose behind it.

The last common type of offer I want to share with you is masterminds. My biggest tip is to focus on having the right people there. You are forming an actual mastermind and not just a group. The concept of a mastermind was introduced by Napoleon Hill. And he says a mastermind is “the coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony. No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third invisible intangible force which may be likened to a third mind, also known as the mastermind.” Masterminds are about people coming together to achieve something they couldn’t by themselves. So make sure you focus on having the right people there so this magical process can happen!
