Authority is all about following your path.

We can do all the planning in the world but if you're not following where life takes you it's going to be hard to build your authority and create your own story. Through Loran's program Built for Authority, she teaches others how to:

  • Create boundaries.
  • Put their mission and vision in place.
  • Create a client experience.
  • Use tools without relapsing old habits.

When it comes to your audience and following your path, knowing your audience is key here. The more you know them like your best friend, the more you're going to be able to predict everything that they are thinking and feeling.

Loran's audience immediately feels connected to her because she's a powerful leader who guides her clients from the front. She has a great perspective on showing people her skills and does it in a really powerful way. This is definitely something to remember when trying to build your authority!

Two key steps to building authority.

The first step to keep in mind is being relatable to your audience. You want to be relatable in a sense where your audience will feel like you've been in their position at one point in your life. This is truly the premise of authority, especially as a course creator.

You never want to be so distanced from the people you're serving. Focus on what you've been through that might help people in their own journey.

Once you've created a sense of relatability, lean into industry research and best practices to see what other people are doing. Take that and put your own twist on it because being in the know is going to keep you on top of trends and that is KEY!

This practice will help call in the response you want in your course, that way you can make updates and further refine your product.

Creating your course straight from the heart.

One of the main reasons why I appreciate Loran so much is because of the way she cares and the way it shines through her work. Everything she does comes from a place of heart, and I think that's why people love her program. When so much love comes out of the work that you do, people will continue to come straight back.

With that said, I asked Loran how she would advise others to build authority within themselves and their programs. She explained that learning the difference between expert and authority is absolutely necessary.

As an expert, you're great at what you do, but a lot of times experts aren't clear on how to frame their expertise beyond the clients they work with. This is what causes a lot of people to hide behind their offer!

When it comes to authorities, they understand that it's not just about the offer. It's about them, their process, and their framework. When you can focus on those three things, you're able to command that authority in your people and position yourself in their eyes.
