Coming face to face with perfectionism.

What I found is that imposter syndrome happens mainly three different times.

  • It's someone's first course
  • They don't want to underdeliver
  • They want to be perfect. pre

If this is you, you can probably agree that this becomes hard to deal with.

There's so much that goes into course creation and when it comes to us working with business owners, we want to get in the most content. There's a lot of information, which pushes us to make sure we're designing these courses in the best way possible.

Nerves also come into play with “perfectionism”. Nobody wants to disappoint when creating a course, but get this…

Being a good educator does NOT mean you need to be perfect. End of story.

There are always going to be things we can improve but at the end of the day it's not about getting it perfect, it's about getting it to its best possible spot. Remember that!

Don't overthink what you say as a course creator.

So many people are concerned with how much they say and what they say. Let me ask you something…

When you go on Instagram live, do you have a script? PROBABLY NOT!

Go into creating a course with the same mindset that your audience will get what they need without it being said perfectly. What you say is enough and if they don't think so, then they probably aren't for you.

If you have this feeling in your heart that what you say is going to align so much with your clients, then go for it. Every single tiny detail does NOT need to be planned.

If you feel in your soul that you're not the right person to deliver this content, then that's okay. Don't try and fake it, instead give yourself some grace and don't fall into the course creator imposter syndrome.

Getting in the right headspace for course creation.

Tip #1: Whether you're working with a course creator or not, it takes work. Go in with a plan so that you can be intentional with your course design and work with different clients.

Tip #2: Get comfortable with creating a course curriculum and if you're not, take a program or work with someone. Courses grow with you so make sure you really know your ideal clients.

Tip #3: Brain dump your content! Get an idea on the flow of your content, how things are going to go, and what you want to get across. From there, you can clean up and share with the world.

Tip #4: Make sure you're energizing people as they’re going through your program or course. If you're in a really bad headspace, take a break and stop.

Tip #5: Use examples and personal stories that will bring your content to life. People remember these things because they are relatable and relevant.

Tip #6: Pre-record your content so that you're able to give people more information and opportunities.

Tip #7: Prepare, create, and intentionally focus on moving people forward and getting them to reach their needs.
